Back then
Since I was a little kid I’ve been drawing cars and everything else concerning cars.
In secondary school my books were full of sketches in stead of smart remarks. A certain
amount of teachers liked it, but some sure didn’t. Still this hobby couldn’t be beaten out of me,
although it was quiet during my fantastic career at the university. But… I started working
at the Taxes and Customs Administration. It was so f****** boring, that it resulted in a
tsunami of drawings and sketches. Somewhere in between the tax declarations I decided to start a different career…
A bit later
I was asking myself how to get my drawings nicer, better and cooler and at a certain moment
the question raised What do others think about it?. I started to look up techniques,
to carefully watch other drawings and all kind of other stuff and of course started to draw like a mad one.
Besides that I extended my equipment bit by bit.
First I was drawing for myself only, but after a while also on request.
Now
All drawings start with an old school pencil sketch by means of examples, photos and/or descriptions.
In case of a car I start to draw a box in the right perspective. After that the car gets shaped step by step.
Then, all the right pencil lines are covered with black pen or ink. Now the drawing can be scanned and possibly
enlarged. Next step is to place the printed drawing on a dazzle light, on which it can be traced again,
but now ‘for real’ with the right sort of paper. This is the moment to add details, colour, shine, movement and so on.
Tools and equipment used while drawing: pencils, fine liners, sketching pens, (twin)markers, Indian ink, rulers,
ellipse and circle templates, sweeps, paint, a beer, and so on…
Nowadays a lot of subjects are coming by, but still most of them are cars.
But if you’re crazy about your mail coach….. no problem! Your rollator? Well… ehhh… no problem!
And then
Like I said, I also make drawings on request for folks who just like their own car(s),
or for people who want to give a drawing as a gift. These drawings are made with the help of data
and descriptions (like the brand, type, colour of car, the kind of wheels), pictures, and of course some fantasy.
Every drawing is unique and comes, if so desired, with a step-by-step making-of documentation.
All drawings and requests can be painted on a wall (think about your children, or maybe yourself).
For that I use a beamer to project it, water based paint and a sealing. The original drawing or sketch is yours too then.
In summary, everything is possible! If you have any questions ideas or requests and for prices, please contact me.
